The big holiday weekend is finally here and with it comes so many summertime traditions that signify the celebration of America’s birthday! The main one being….Fourth of July fireworks. In fact, one of our forefathers, John Adams, said it best when predicting how this special day in our nation’s history would be celebrated in the years to come:
“I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival,” he wrote his wife, Abigail. “It ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other!”
With that said, we want to make sure you and your friends and family don’t miss out on any of the illuminations this year! Here is a list of some of the places you can go this year to enjoy fireworks and celebrations near Woodstock, Roswell and the greater Atlanta area.
Woodstock: July 4th Spectacular
The city’s of Woodstock’s annual July 4th Spectacular will get underway at at 10 a.m. with its popular parade, which will travel down Rope Mill Road from Woodstock Elementary School towards Main Street and end at Sam’s Club on Highway 92.
Following the parade, the annual FreedomFest will be held at the Park at City Center, which runs from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Residents can expect to enjoy music, food, arts, crafts, children’s activities and more.
Last but certainly not least will be the annual fireworks show behind the Woodstock Square shopping center, the home of Target, on Highway 92 west of Interstate 575.
The fireworks show will begin at dusk. There will be message boards directing motorists in and out the shopping center.
Roswell: Fourth of July Extravaganza
The city of Roswell will once again host a huge community celebration of our nation’s Independence Day at the annual 4th of July Extravaganza, which will take place on Monday, July 4 at Sweet Apple Elementary School. Please note this is a location change from its originally scheduled location at Roswell High School.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy giant inflatables, carnival games, food trucks, face painting, and other family-friendly activities. Live music will begin at 6 p.m. with the Last Call Band, and then Banks and Shane will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Fireworks will begin at dark.
Sweet Apple Elementary School (a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free zone) is located at 12025 Etris Rd.
Stone Mountain Park: Fantastic Fourth Celebration

Attraction Hours: 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Lasershow and Fireworks: 9:30 p.m.

Buckhead: Lenox Mall Fourth of July Fireworks
One of Atlanta’s favorite summer traditions, Lenox Square’s Legendary Fourth of July, is set to return with a star-spangled bang! For over half a century, Lenox Square has celebrated Independence Day with patriotic activities for the entire family. With over 10,000 fireworks, the show is one of the largest fireworks displays in the Southeast. This year’s activities will include a 15-minute fireworks show, musical entertainment and food concessions. Happy 4th!
The schedule includes:
6 p.m. – Jimmy Buffet tribute band Sons of Sailors opens the show
7:45 p.m. – Show headliners, Party on the Moon, Atlanta’s favorite party band, takes the stage
Fireworks scheduled to begin at approximately 9:40 p.m.
Callaway Gardens: July 4th Beach Party
The celebration begins early and lasts well into the night at our annual July 4th Star Spangled Beach Party at Robin Lake Beach. Highlights include beach activities, live music – headlined by the Swingin’ Medallions, the FSU Flying High Circus and our annual Fireworks Extravaganza. Be sure to pack plenty of red, white and blue for this All-American Weekend!
