The end of summer is coming quickly, so before you take one last dip in the pool or enjoy one more hotdog at the ball park, add these home maintenance items to your to-do list and all will be well as we head into fall!
Clean Your Windows
With the days already starting to get shorter, it’s a good time to either hire a window washer or scrub them yourself – inside and out. Make sure you get any cobwebs down from the corners as well.
Wash Outdoor Furniture
The grill and the outdoor table and chairs have been working overtime recently, so give them some TLC before you pack them up for the season. Scrub furniture with soap and water and let any fabric cushions air out in the sun before storing them away.
Clean the grill off as well and throw away and replace any tired grilling tools. Investing in a grill cover is also a good idea to keep it in good condition during the colder months.
Organize the Garage
As you start to use the lawn mower and planting tools less and less, it’s a good time to organize where they go in the garage and make sure everything has a place. Sort through anything you haven’t used in a while, invest in some cabinetry or organizational bins and if you’re really in the mood to clean, grab some epoxy paint and give the garage floor a little makeover. If you do use your garage for parking your cars, you’ll be amazed at how great you feel pulling into an organized space!
The end of summer is also a good time to figure out where muddy boots will sit, jackets will hang and umbrellas will dry during the colder months. If you have a designated mudroom inside the house, make sure you have baskets for shoes, floor protectors for wet items and storage/hooks for anything that needs to hang.
If you don’t have a room for this, consider making some room in the garage right by the door to house these items. You can buy standalone shelving units that can usually fit snuggly in a garage.
We hope you are enjoying the last days of summer with your friends and family and are looking forward to the fall season ahead!
